Ag Leader recently held its 5th annual Educators Training Event here in Ames, Iowa. We had a record attendance this year with over 20 educators. The 2014 event focused on our new online Educations Solutions Portal and how it can be utilized within each schools precision ag program.
This event had an informative panel discussion with 5 individuals from various precision ag companies. These individuals were from Rain and Hail Insurance, Kinze Manufacturing, Hagie Manufacturing, HTS Ag and Labre Crop Consulting. This panel focused on what each of these respective companies look for when interviewing potential new hires, what skills are most important to them in new graduates, as well as what the demand will be in the future for precision ag knowledge within graduates. The conversations helped each educator gain an understanding of what the students need to be equipped with to successfully graduate, find a job, and be effective within the industry.
In addition to the new portal and discussion panel, we covered the Value of Data message, and showcased our online file sharing platform known as AgFiniti®. We also provided a full day of hardware/GPS training to expose the educators to Ag Leader’s capabilities and some of the basics of GPS and machine control. A full CAN-simulator demonstration, in-depth GPS overview and the ride and drive gave them the hands on experience needed to fully understand precision agriculture. The ride and drive helped to show the functionality of our various steering options and how they can be utilized in a teaching environment. The third and final day contained an SMS™ training and review focused on how the training manual, video tutorials and online content can all be used to more effectively teach various SMS™ topics to students.
We would like to thank all of our educators who helped make this year’s event the best yet and we look forward to making next year’s even better! For additional information about Ag Leaders Educational Solutions Program, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
