This past week it seems as if fall has arrived in central Iowa, and for many of us that means the exciting harvest season is quickly approaching. Fall means that if Mother Nature has been kind, we get to see the benefit of all of our hard work. We can also start planning for not only the busy harvest time but also for fall fertilizer application and even the next planting season.
As we plan for the next growing season it seems a logical time for reflection on this current crop year:
- Did we select the right hybrids?
- Did we apply the right amount of fertilizer at the right time?
- Did we control weeds, insects, diseases as best we could?
- What can we or should we change?
These questions are always at the forefront of a grower’s mind and if you utilize the data that you’ve been collecting from your fields you can come up with answers to many of them. Join us for an SMS Software Training session this winter and learn how to analyze and plan for the 2015 crop season. The list and description of all of our training sessions can be found here. Wishing you a safe and productive harvest season.
